Etymology

'Clearing for stud or herd of horses,' v. stod , leah . William fil. Corbucion held the manor in 1086 (DB), and the manor continued in the same family (Corbizon , etc.) until c. 1360 (Dugdale 553–4). Cf. Studley (PN O 199).
