Etymology

Ulverley Green and The Ulleries is Ulverlei 1086 DB, Huverleie 1199 FF (p), Huluerle (e )1224 ib., 1275 Ipm, 1292 Ch, 1316 Pat, 1341WAM , Hulverley (e )13th AD vi, 1318Ass , 1356MinAcct , 1500 KnowleG, Hulvesley 1340Deeds Enrolled , Hurverlee 1383 Cl, Hullurley 1394 Pat, Hullerley 1615Dugdale , 1656 Dugdale, Hulverley end 1638Add , Hullery olim Ulverley 1725 B. The first element in this name would seem to be identical with ME  holvyr , hulfere , 'holly.' The history of that word is obscure but a compound of such a word with leah would be natural. Hence 'holly wood or clearing.' The Ulleries would seem to preserve the local form of this name.
