Etymology

Listelow (TA ) is Listerleia early 13th Dugd 548, Listerleye 1252, 1374 AD v, Listerlye t. Ed 1 Dugd 542, Lysterleyfeld 1306 AD v, 1344Add , Lusterley grove c. 1350 ib., Great Listelow , Little Listelow c. 1840TA . This is probably a name of the same type as Baxterley supra 78, the first element being ME  li (te )stere , 'dyer.' See further Fransson 105.
