Bunkers Hill Fm

Early-attested site in the Parish of Offchurch

Etymology

Bunkers Hill Fm. Cf. Bunkers Hill c. 1840TA . This is a fairly common name. It has been suggested that it should be associated with the 18th-century battle of that name (PN Sr 367) but that only carries the problem one stage further back, for presumably the name of the American battle is ultimately of English origin. Bunkers Hill in Little Berkhamsted (Herts) is to be associated with the family of John Bunkere (1429Ct ).
