Yerdley Fm is Yerdeley 1477Compton , Yeardley Hitch c. 1800 ib. Identical in origin with Yardley (PN Wo 231, PN Nth 108) and referring to woodland from which yards or spars are taken. Cf. also PN D liii. For hitch v. infra 335.
