Etymology

Jacknet (6″) is parcell . terre nuper Jakk at Wode 1470, terr. voc. Jakk att Wode t. Hy 6, Jacqnett att wod 1534Ct , past. voc. Jacknett 1608LRMB , Jaconett Close c. 1840TA . This is probably 'Jack at Wood's (land),' with later corruption. Cf. Tom's by the Woods (PN Ess 42).
