Etymology

Bath Barn (6″). Cf. Bathwell lane 1710Buccleuch , Bathfield c. 1840TA . In 1699 (Buccleuch ) we have mention of “the Bathe well yard in which place riseth and runneth the famous spring of medecinall water, commonly called the Bathe well.” The Baths (ruins) are marked on the 6″ map.
