'Gyddel 's hill,' v. dun . The pers. name is not on record, but would be a regular derivative of Gydda . Cf. Gilston (Herts), Gedeleston , Gadeleston 1198FF , Gedelestone 1200 Cur, Geddeleston 1248Ass , Gedleston 1373 IpmR, and Gidding (PN BedsHu 240).
