Etymology

Cuttle Bridge (6″). Cf. Cuttell Milne 1533FF , Cuthilfild 1565Aston , Cuttell bridge 1572FF , Cuttle Heath 1673 ib. Near here lived John de Cottele (1327 SR), John Kuttel (1332 ib.) and William de Cuttul (1351 AD ii). This is probably a stream-name, v. supra 3.
