Etymology

Weddington Hill is le helde super Whetyndon n.d. AD iii, Wetendone 1208 FF, Wedenton 1246 RegAlb, Whetyngdon , Whetyndon 1374Rental , Whettenton hedge corner c. 1600, Whetington hill 1642, Whettington 1767 Ladbroke. Probably 'wheaten hill' from the OE  adjective hwǣten and dun . Cf. Waddington (PN Sr 46). helde from OE  hielde, 'slope.'
