Hornbrook Fm

Early-attested site in the Parish of Berkswell

Etymology

Hornbrook Fm. Cf. aqua de Hornebroke apud Meriden grene 1550Ct The name must have referred to the small stream which flows from Meriden to the Blythe. About half a niile to the east in Meriden is Horn Wood Fm infra 65, while in the same document there is mention of Horn pol and Horn mere . It would seem that Horn Wood, Hornbrook, Horn pol and Horn mere all took their name from some spur of land. v. horn and cf. Horne (PN Sr 322).
