Etymology

Ryton Bridge (olim Finford Bridge) is Finteford t. Hy 1Kenilworth , 1221 FF, Fintefortheb 'ge 1221Ass , Fintford 1279Nott , Fyndeford , Fynford medow 1411Coventry , Finford Bridge c. 1540 Lfreq to 1818 Cary. Professor Ekwall suggests that the first element is OE  fyniht , 'fenny,' which is on record.There is marshland by the bridge. The word repeats itself perhaps in Fynteslond , Fyntesmor (13thLegerBk ) in Stoneleigh.
