Etymology

'Wimbel 's farm,' v. ingtūn . The name is not on record, but it might be a pet-form of OE  Wynnbeald . Cf. Wombleton (PN NRY 67). The place-name is not on early record and it is possible that Wimblingtun is actually a reduction of Wynnbealdingtun .
