Etymology

The new forms, Wynterword etc., though late, make it probable that EkwalL(DEPN) was right in associating this name with Wentworth (WRY), DBWintreuuorde , Winteworde . Either 'Wintra 's enclosure' or 'winter-enclosure,' v. worð . For -ford cf. Duxford supra 92.
