Etymology

This goes with Singlesole Fm on the opposite side of the Cat's Water in Eye (Nth). Probably, as suggested in PN Nth 235, 'Singull 's wood.' The personal name is probably a Scandinavian loan name from OGer  Singulph . v. holt .
