Etymology

“Well-watered land that served as common pasture,” from OE  (ge )mǣne and ēg. Cf. “Moneyeslode (i.e. Manea Lode) ubi tota villata de Lytleport debent communare” (1251ElyCouch ) and Maney (PN Wa 49–50).
