Etymology

'Icca's bank,' v. ora . A pers. name Icca is not on independent record but its existence has been demonstrated in PN Bk 124, PN Wo 143, while in the first reference it is suggested that there must have been two forms of the pers. name, one with and the other without palatalisation of the cc . The forms given above suggest that there was hesitation in the Sussex name itself.
