Etymology

The Capite is land called Cappardye 1427, Capardy 1527, Carpardy 1555 (SAC 54, 172), Capdye 1630 (SRS 14, 84). The forms are too late for any suggestion to be possible. It should perhaps be noted that there is a place called La Caparderie in the Pas de Calais (Dict. Topographique s. n .) which may be the same name.
