Etymology

'High farm,' v. heah , tun . The adj. is uninflected, cf. Roffey supra 228. The manor was held by John de Sancto Claro in 1347 (Misc), whence the place was alternatively known as St Cleres manor (1422 IpmR). Juxta Westferles to distinguish it from South Heighton infra 363.
