Etymology

Moustows Makor (6″) is called la Mostowe in 1343 (Lewes 152) and is to be associated with Ralph atte Mustowe (1327 SR) and John atte Mostowe (1401Lewes Deeds ). This name probably represents an OE  gemōt stōw , 'meeting-place for the moot.'v. Tipnoak supra 214.
