Etymology

Washingham (6″) is Wassingham in 1296Ass (p), 1424 IpmR, Wassyngham in 1350Ct , Wasingham in 1823 (G). The place is low-lying and is probably from OE  wæssingaham (m ), 'ham(m) of the dwellers by the wæsse or wet-place.' For this word v. Ekwall RN 437–8.
