Etymology

Verridge Wood (6″) is Veregge t. Hy 6FF (VCH ), Verrege 1565Deeds Enrolled , Verrege or Ferrege ParReg and is to be associated with Richard de Ferrugge (1324 Cl). Probably from OE  fearn and hrycg , hence 'bracken-ridge.'
