Twisly Wood (6″) is Twystley 1520AsM , Twyste lee 1544Ct .Twist may here have its obsolete sense of 'twig, branch.' Cf. Twist (D), Twyste 1502 (Deed at Duchy of Cornwall Office ) and Twistryde , a lost Sussex p.n. frequent in the 13th cent. (cf. SR).
