Etymology

Preston Court is Prestitone , Prestetone 1086 DB, Prestintona abbatis de Becco 1174 P, Weyst Preston 1296 SR, Preston by Glynde 1369 Cl. 'Priests' farm,' v. preost , tun . It belonged to Bee Abbey. In 1296 (SR) there was also an Estpreston . These are perhaps respectively Preston Court in Beddingham and Preston House in Firle.
