Etymology

Hawking Sopers is Hawkensopers in 1624 (SRS 14, 25), land called Sopers in 1628 (SRS 14, 112). The name goes back to the family of Stephen le Sopere (1327 SR), one of whom is said to have been falconer to the lord of the manor.
