Etymology

'Wudumǣr 's thorn-bush,'v. þorn . The name Wudumǣr is not on record but is a regular formation, and parallel to the Gothic Vidimer . Later, by a process of dissimilation, r-r became n-r , and the name was made to appear as if it contained the common noun (and name) wuduman , 'woodman.'
