Etymology

Fairlawn Ho (6″) was formerly Farnehill (VCH iv, 247). It is, therefore, identical with Farnhull c. 1350Chertsey , Farnehulle 1548LRMB . 'Fern or bracken hill,' v. fearn . The modern form is probably partly an alteration, partly a corruption.
