Etymology

Brooklands is Brokeland 1548LRMB , Brokelands al. Brokeland t. Eliz ChancP, and was the home of Eva del Broc (1197 FF) and William de la Brok (1294Ass ). Brook must here have the sense of 'marshy land,' v. supra 89, the place lying by the Wey.Brookland farm has now been absorbed in the Brooklands motor-track.
