Etymology

This name must be identical with Wanbarrow (PN Sx 275), Wambarrow (So) 1324 BM Wanburgh , a compound of OE  wenn , wænn , 'wen' and beorg , denoting a small hill. Travelling east along the Hogs Back from Farnham, the ridge rises to a clearly marked point above Wanborough.
