Etymology

'The people of Tyta , or Tita ,' v. ingas . The fuller range of forms now at our disposal makes it uncertain whether the personal name involved is Tita (cf. Ekwall, PN in -ing 54) or Tyta . The diminutive forms Tytilus and Tyttla of the latter name are on record.
