Etymology

Pease Marsh is Pesemerssh (e )1386, 1448Loseley , 1483AddCh , Pisemarse t. Ed 4, le Pismersche c. 1550, Pesmerche lane c. 1550Loseley , Pease Marsh 1680 Seller. 'Marshy land where peas are grown.' Cf. Peasmarsh (PN Sx 531). This is a tract of marshy land by the Wey, partly in Godalming and Artington parishes. v. pise .

Peasmarsh is the usual local spelling.
