Chinthurst (6″) and Chinthurst Hill is Chinthurst 1235, 1259Ass et passim , with variant spellings Chynthurst and Chinthirst , Chintehurst 1279Ass (p), Chyntresdowne 1481Cl , Chinters 1577Ct , Chelter 's Hill 1603 SrWills. This name clearly contains the same first element as Chincill (supra 120) and Chyngton (PN Sx 364), but its significance is unknown.
