Etymology
Stratford Fm and Bridge (both 6″). Cf. Stratford , water of Stratford early 13thSpencer , Stratford Brige t. Hy 8MinAcct .The stræt is the old road to Portsmouth which is carried over a small stream here. There is no reason to believe that this road is of Roman origin.
