Etymology

Bonsey's Fm is to be associated with the family of Rychard Bonsye (1583 Musters). He acquired the farm of Twichen in 1615 (VCH iii, 428). The site is earlier known as (to þære ) twicene , (andlang ) twicene 956 (BCS 955), Twichene 1446 Chertsey, Twitching al. Tonching (sic)1540 M and B, Tuzchyn in Horshill 1558–79 ECP, Towchen 1607FF , Twitching 1719 Aubrey, Twichin 1765 R, and was the home of John atte Twychene 1317 FF, 1326 Cl. This is OE  twicene, 'meeting of ways.' Two or three tracks meet near here. It is called Boncess Fm in 1823 (G).
