Hooley is Holeg (h )1235Ass (p), 1258 FF (p), 1318, 1323 Winton, Holee 1301 Pat, Howly 1445 Chertsey, 1689 SRS xxxii, Hooley 1789 L and C. This is probably a compound of OE  holh and leah , hence 'woodland or clearing in the hollow.'
