Gratins Pond also called Craches or Crathors Pond or the Greate Pond 1614 VCH iii, 415, Gratious Pond 1607 Norden Gracious Pond 1719 Aubrey, Gracechurch Pond 1842 TA ' This name has suffered much corruption. The earliest spelling suggests derivation from some ME  surname, possibly a variant form of Cra (t )chet .
