Etymology

Normandy is Normandie 1656 Indenture , Normandy 1664SR , Normanby 1680 Index Villaris, 1719 Aubrey. The hamlet takes its present name from an inn here called 'The Duke of Normandy.' The place must have had an earlier name, since in 1664 it is described as a tithing of Ash.
