Etymology

'The old burh.' A common name, cf. Albury and Aldbury (Herts). This one may refer to the Romano-British camp on Farley Heath in the parish, though that is some distance from the present village of Albury. The original village of Albury was about a mile to the east round the ancient church. The present Albury has grown up round the new church, built c. 1840 at the spot where was formerly the hamlet of Weston infra 221.
