Etymology

'The enclosure of Sukar or Shuker ', from worð 'enclosure' (later dropped) with hall , cf. Francis Sukar or Shuker 1595 Ipm.The hall was no longer standing by 1677 when Roger Fowke held the Sukars Croft , v. VCH iv, 115.
