Etymology

With this variety of forms it is impossible to suggest a certain etymology, but it may be 'the farmstead named after Brȳni ', from the OE  pers.n. Brȳni with -ing-, tūn, comparable with Brinnington Ch 1 268, though the latter does not show the same variations.
