Etymology

'Estate of the religious household' or 'estate of the domestic servants', v. hīwan , hīgna . Other Sa instances are Hinton in Pontesbury, Part 238, and Hinnington (Hineton '1255–6Ass ) in Shifnal. Hinstock and Hine Heath have the same first element.
