Historical Forms
- Bowcketrehall 1563 Bodl
- Buckatre Hall 1833 OS
Etymology
Buckatree Hall, 1841TA , Bowcketrehall 1563 Bodl, Buckatre Hall 1833 OS. There is an earlier reference 1324 Bodl, where a messuage in the adjacent township of Clotley (Wrockwardine parish) is said to have 30 acres in the field towards Boketreu . 'Bucca's tree': this is an addition to the large corpus of 'x's tree' names discussed in Part 1 under Oswestry. Situation on a boundary is a marked characteristic of these names, and Buckatree is just inside the Wellington boundary.
