Cotton
Early-attested site in the Parish of Stoke upon Tern
Etymology
Cotton (SJ 631278), 'cottages'. This is one of six Sa instances of Cot(t)on. Eyton's identification of the Stoke upon Tern place with DB Ludecote has been generally accepted, and the name was therefore discussed in Part 1, where it was suggested that the DB affix, probably the personal name Luda , was a temporary addition to an originally simplex name.
