Wayford Hill and Big and Little Wayford Leasow (Wayford Lessow 1693LDR ). VCH VIII 162 cites refs. to Sybil de Wayford in 1353 and to a smithy here in 1356. VCH VIII31 says that the Shrewsbury/Hereford road was described as from Wayford to Shrewsbury in 1466. v. weg , ford : the road crosses a tributary of the Cound.
