Etymology
Gilberries (SO 515937) is Gulbury 1318–19 Eyton, Gilbury 1663 PR(H) 8, Gilberries 1833 OS, The Gilberrys 1841–6TA : Guilbury Poole is mentioned c.1716SRO 4572 /6 /2 /56 . Apparently a compound with byrig in the sense 'manor house'. The first element is obscure. The 'gold' words are not likely as the -d - in these would persist into the 14th cent.
