Etymology

Prees Higher Heath and Prees Lower Heath. Prees Higher Heath occupies a large area in the northern tip of the parish, and a settlement here may be the one designated Hethe 1199 SAS 2/X (FF), La Hethe 1255–6Ass , 1352 Pat, and later Heathe 1655 SAS 1/XLVII, Prees Heath 1794et seq to 1802 RTH. Prees Lower Heath, S.E. of Prees village, is so called 1792 PR(L) 10, 1798 PR(L) 2. This may be Prees Town Heath 1800 ib. RTH distinguishes between Prees Heath 1794 et seq and Prees Lower Heath 1783 et seq to 1803.
