Etymology

Westcottmill Fm (SJ 709290), Westaneskote 1279–80RentSur , Westanescote 1322 Cl, Ipm, Westcott Mill 1833 OS. This name must be considered together with Wistanswick in Stoke upon Tern, 2½ miles west. The two names are 'cottage(s)' and 'dairy farm of Wigstān', and it seems likely that the same man was the owner of both properties.
