Etymology
'Skúli's outlying farmstead', v. þorp , cf. Sculthorpe Nf. The OScand pers.n. Skúli is an original by-name, cf. Olcel skýla 'to screen, to shelter', v. SPNLY 254. For later f.ns. arising from Sculthorpe, v. f.ns. (a) infra . The site of the deserted village is 'marked at SK 923 038 and SK 927 028 by a series of low banks and a possible hollow way' BrownArchSites 20.
