Finchesford '1227 ClR, Fincheford 1266, 1269For , Hy 3 Nichols, atte brigge 1377(p), atte brugge 1377 SR (p). Originally 'the ford frequented by finches', v. finc , ford , brycg . The modern form may be a corruption of the older name, or may represent an undocumented Finchley nearby.
