Etymology

Bell Land (6″) is Allotment of the Trustees of the Curfew Bell 1760EnclA . Dr T. Loveday informs us that the Cropredy Bell Land Trust was instituted 1512–13 by Roger Lupton, Vicar of Cropredy, for the keeping of the church clock and ringing of the curfew and day bell. The rent is applied to this purpose.
